Better Days Workshops
The Better Days workshop series is a different kind of Professional Development. Not just a Professional Learning Community but also a Personal Learning Community focused on strategies for teachers and their students.
Teachers don’t want to be told to take care of themselves; they want time to care for themselves. Better Days offers a solution. A healthy change of pace from the constant screen interaction and to-do lists. Connecting with others- face to face is believed to improve productivity and enhance well-being.
Better Days workshops and Keynotes are based on the book Better Days, published by ASCD. Workshops are designed based on the ten themes, one for each month of the school year. The frequency and theme choices are customized to meet your needs.
Themes:
- Attention and Intention
- Authenticity
- Change
- Common Humanity
- Feelings and Emotions
- Kindness and Gratitude
- Mind Management
- Presence
- Routines and Rituals
- Self-Care
A 24-minute protocol is provided. Each inspiring workshop offers a choice of creative SEL activities to help teachers and students stay present and optimistic while integrating healthy habits into their lives. The monthly workshops foster connections among staff – with time allotted for a short, guided restorative practice followed by reflection, sharing, planning, and discussion. Embedded in each session, teachers can experience and learn cooperative learning engagement strategies that can be replicated with students.
Each month provides the following 24-minute protocol as a guide. Of course, modify as needed and make it work for your setting and team. The idea is to be present in the moment and open up to what shows up.
